Welcome to the Lunch Program

The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia provides a healthy breakfast and lunch for our students each day. Our goal is to safeguard the health and well being Of your child by helping them establish good eating habits. In addition, a good meal enhances a child's ability to think and learn during class sessions.

We partner with the Federal Government’s Free and Reduced Meal Program. Through this program, the school provides nutritious meals to all students at either no or minimal cost to the parent. We use the Household Income Application to gather income and household information, Based on federal guidelines and the information you give us, we determine. if a student can receive .a free, reduced-price or paid meal.

MCSCS now has a computer system that tracks the meals a student receives. Each student is assigned a PIN (personal identification number) which he or she enters in the computer at the time of receiving their meal. This is how we get a count of the number of meals a student eats.

Beginning September 2012, we are putting in place the Governments pricing guidelines. This means you will be asked to pay for each lunch your child eats if their benefit determination is as follows:

Free Reduced Paid
$0.00 $0.40 $2.50

It is imperative that you complete the Lunch Applica. ion as soon as possible so the benefit determination can be made. If required, you will be billed monthly and can pay by cash check, credit card, or via the internet through Google pay.

If your child will not be participating in the Lunch Program we still need you to complete the Lunch Application because the information is used to complete other required state and federal reports including school funding for books, education programs, standardized testing, tutoring and afterschool programs,

Thanking you in advance for your timely response and cooperation, Please contact Ms. Solomon at 215-923-4880-4860 if you have questions or concerns.
